SAFEGUARDING

We are committed to supporting our clients when it comes to matters of safeguarding, whether that be young people or vulnerable adults.

Our staff are trained and experienced in working where young or vulnerable persons are present and the additional precautions and control measures to take.

Each member of our team has an enhanced DBS with a barred list check.

Additionally we are proud to serve a variety of other organisations that require our staff to be security cleared including non-police personnel vetting (NPPV).

The nature of our work often means accessing many areas of a customer’s premises where sensitive information may be stored.  You can be assured our staff are committed to protecting our customers and in accordance with our confidentiality policies.

HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE

This is our highest value as a business, the lives of our staff are very important to us and we strive to provide a safe place to work.  We also never want our customers or general public to come to any harm as a result of our work and have robust policies and procedures in place to keep everyone safe.

Every member of our company is expected to actively participate in helping to maintain a safe and secure culture.

Some of the things we do;

  • Provide suitable training to all our staff for the work and tasks they complete
  • Conduct quarterly checks on our tools and equipment
  • Engage with an specialist health & safety consultant to assess and challenge our health, safety and welfare policies and procedures including ad hoc site assessments
  • Health surveillance questionnaires
  • Listen, collaborate and act with our staff, supply chain and customers
  • Hold quarterly H&S committee meetings
  • Provide risk and method statements for every project

HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT OF INTENT

BFM recognises that it has a responsibility as an employer to ensure the “Health, Safety and Welfare” of all employees whilst at work. Additionally, it is the responsibility of all persons to ensure this policy extends to other persons who may be affected by our activities. In this way, each individual has a vital and specific role in maintaining health and safety standards.

Responsibility for the overall implementation, maintenance and development of our safety management system, however, rests with the senior management of BFM, including regular setting and reviewing of objectives, and the provision of adequate resources to allow those objectives to be achieved. 

BFM, for its part, through the management structure will meet its obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. The company will, so far as is reasonably practicable, ensure that:

  • Assessing the risks arising from our work activities and eliminating/reducing the risks identified to as low a level as is reasonably practicable in order to ensure the safety of our workforce, customers and other persons who may be affected by our work activities:
  • Providing and maintaining safe buildings, machinery and equipment:
  • Providing a safe system of work ensuring the safe use of all work equipment and substances:
  • Ensuring the competency of our employees/sub-contractors and all others who engage in our activities by providing relevant information, instruction, training and supervision:
  • Recording and investigating all accidents, cases of work-related ill health and near misses, however minor, in order to prevent recurrence:
  • Regularly monitoring our health and safety performance:
  • Working towards continual improvement:
  • Providing adequate resources to effectively manage health and safety:
  • Communicating changes of the policy to employees:

The effectiveness of our health and safety policy and its implementation are subject to regular management review and all related processes and procedures are subject to an on-going audit schedule
