One of our existing long term clients contacted us to ask if we could help them upgrade their electrical backup generators. At that point they had two small sets that supported part of their site. Both of the sets were old and very unreliable.
BFM carried out an extensive survey of the sites electrical distribution system and came up with a design / proposal on how the system could be upgraded to support the complete site with one new 500KVA set.
Due to the existing site being in fully operational the works to intergrate this new generator needed to be planned and carried out very carefully to avoid any interuption to their business.
After careful planning we prepared a solid foundation for the new generator to sit.
Designed to order we integrated a fully automatic changeover bypass system into the existing electrical distribution. This is where the magic happens if the site supply were to fail.
On the day of delivery special measures were implemented to ensure the new generator set was safely positioned at it’s new home.
Once the new set had been connected it was commission with a full load test ensuring that the customer has safe knowledge that their business is protected from distribution black outs.
BFM continued to carry out load tests at specified intervals as well as regular generator servicing required by JCB. We continue to monitor the set using specialist software that allows us to see when the generator has been started because of a power cut and monitor the health of key aspects of the machine allowing us to keep everything at running peak performance.
